Philip Venable

I am a retired Contra Costa County Deputy Sheriff. I’ve been a photographer since childhood and began to shoot seriously as I approached retirement in 2011. I am inspired by nature and the beauty in landscapes. I also plum the depths of my imagination to create altered realities, and abstract images. I usually don’t decide what to do with an image until I’m looking at it on the computer screen. I use Photoshop and On1 to manipulate my images.

As I began to explore photography as an art form I studied various photographers I admired, and read up on how to use software to achieve the effects I wanted in the images I was creating. I would recommend to any new artist to do the same regardless of the type of art they create.
