Art encourages me to interpret nature’s beauty and complexity by creating oil paintings of landscapes, waterscapes, other visions around me. Painting has been a blessing and it has kept me challenged and happy. I try to observe, be aware of shapes, light contrast and composition, use new ideas and enjoy the process – I’m often surprised by the results.
I work both en plein air and at my studio and my paintings reflect a realistic/impressionistic style with strong colors and light. I paint with oils and use layering techniques with subjects drawn from the lovely surroundings and photos I take. My husband and I are now full-time residents in Sun City Lincoln Hills. We lived in the Redwood country of Northern California for 35 years and when we retired we moved to The Big Island of Hawaii where I painted beaches and ocean scenes for many years and now have works in Island galleries. On the Island and in Sun City I have enjoyed working and learning with master artists, groups of neighbor artists and working in my home studio!
