About

I’m Jeanne Tepper, I’m a retired interior designer and lover of art. My work reflects nature in various forms. I also do portraits of people I know well. Without art, my life isn’t complete – it brings me great joy!
Growing up on a farm in Colorado, I learned to entertain myself using my imagination, pencils and paint. Middle and high school art classes opened my eyes to various art forms. It was my meditation and first love. Nature, music, people, poetry, emotions, viewing other’s art: all feed my desire to create art. Various mediums transport that need to fruition. Realism and impressionism satisfy me. What I call “Abstractions” challenge and excite me. I pull out a new canvas, make some squiggles on it with charcoal or various markers, then paint and watch what evolves. Something always shows up unexpectedly and sends me on an art journey. The advise I could give to aspiring artists is to sign up for a class where materials are included, in a traditional medium you think you’ll like. If you enjoy it “great!”, keep going. Don’t be intimidated, we all had to start somewhere and it wasn’t at the top. If it doesn’t excite you then take a class in mixed media or collage, something less structured which offers more freedom in creation. There are so many creative options and it’s a great way to meet people.
