BOARD OF DIRECTORS

We will involve our members and other supporters by seeking their views and listening to their suggestions. We will strive to create programs and opportunities that address our members’ art challenges while developing relationships that enrich our community.

We have many years of experience in mothering, fathering, volunteering, raising kids, making a home for abandoned pets, running a business, project managing, practicing law, farming, marketing, strategic planning, and IT tech. We believe our experience and creativity in making relationships and things work in the real world will be helpful in guiding the Art League in providing excellent art services to Lincoln and the surrounding area. One of our greatest assets is as a group we are flexible so we can adapt to rapidly changing environments. But most of all we are passionate about collaborating with others to restore health, economic vitality, fun, and a sense of community as we enter the post pandemic era for our town.

Gia McNutt

President

As a board Director and Operations Manager I am committed to the Art League of Lincoln reaching and serving more of the greater Lincoln community and Western Placer. Public art is a primary focus; we have established a fund for this purpose and look forward to bringing more public art to the Lincoln area, which distinguishes the City of Lincoln. I am committed to further partnerships surrounding education, to give access to the arts and art education, to all students. Through Prop 28 we are working to bring art to more schools, especially underserved and Title 1. I am also committed to collaborating and partnering with the businesses and organizations in Lincoln to bring more people to Lincoln to enjoy our shops, dining, and events.

Work History: As founder and CEO of Special Order Systems, high technology company I founded in 1992, I led and managed all aspects of business including operations, sales, human resources, organizational, marketing, and culture. I transitioned out of this role in 2013, when I happily moved into the arts again (it being my love; what I went to college for). I also have a great deal of experience with non-profits and philanthropy, having served as Board chair for local non-profit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento area, and general board member for Los Rios Community Foundation.

I coordinated the Placer Artists Tour (an Open Studio Tour with over 100 artists & galleries) in 2017, 2021 & 2022 (and was also an artist on the tour). The Placer Artists Tour is a treasure to the community; within the past 2 years it has become an independent entity. I remain on the tour, and the Art League of Lincoln was the Presenting Sponsor in 2021 & 2022, and is a gallery on the tour each year.

I am also an artist and musician, and strongly believe that the arts are critical in the continued evolution, and well-being of humanity.

Nate Bradley

Vice President

Nate Bradley has 13 years of experience with numerous nonprofits, helping them to develop their internal structure by drafting board policy, creating programs, fundraising and marketing.

With an interest in organizational development and building out programs, he plans to build out ALL’s volunteer program while expanding the capacity and reach of the organization.

Diane Wood

Treasurer

My first career was as a professional ballet dancer. In my twenties, I retired from performing and shifted my primary pursuits to a career in business. I graduated from Sacramento State in Business Administration-Finance and have been a business professional for over 30 years. I’ve worked for large corporations, a not-for-profit and a family business, in telecommunications, economic development and agricultural marketing and distribution, respectively. For the past 16 years I have worked in Lincoln for Fiddyment Farms, first as their business manager/controller and then in 2013 as general manager. In 2020, I stepped down as general manager and am now an internal consultant, vice president of the corporation and a member of their board. Additionally, I currently sit on the finance committee for the American Pistachio Growers Association.

As a board member, I want to provide support, guidance and decision making that balance ALL’s mission and goals with the need for organizational and financial sustainability. Through my years as a professional ballet dancer, I experienced first-hand the value art brings to us as individuals and to our communities, and the importance of organizations like ALL in supporting and sustaining the arts. I am eager to interact and work with the many creative people that are ALL’s members and stakeholders to ensure the organization’s ongoing success.

Cailin Wailini

Secretary

Cailin is a professional artist and entrepreneur and is currently the Secretary of the Art League of Lincoln.

She has a strong interest in bridging her love of art with a desire to better our community. In Cailin’s own words, “Being an artist raised in the community of Lincoln, I feel a strong sense of pride and want to garner more support for the arts in our community. There is so much potential to build on.”

In pursuing these interests, she brings her experience and skills in marketing and social media to our organization.

Cailin is also involved in several other local organizations, including the Inspired Artist Society and the City of Lincoln’s Economic Development Committee.

Steve Pagano

Board Director, General Member

With over 30 years in the music and entertainment industry, I have been an advocate for the arts on all levels. As a performing and touring musician throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, I have had the opportunity to share music and the performing arts with many people of all ages and genres.

Currently based in Lincoln, I am the owner and operator of the Rockstar Music Academy. The Rockstar Music Academy is a Lincoln favorite with over 19 Best of the best awards (Lincoln News Messengers) in just a few years. Teaching and managing a large group of over 20 performing arts instructors that include music, theater and dance to well over 300 plus students and growing. Our philanthropic efforts have helped bring the performing arts to every corner of Placer County. Chosen Lincoln’s 2023 SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR & and BUSINESSMAN OF THE YEAR (business excellence awards/Lincoln Chamber of Commerce) are just a few of the accomplishments that bring value and experience to the League.

I look forward to helping develop and implement programs and partnerships that continue to bring the arts of all types, to all ages, especially reaching new eyes, ears and minds!

Mary Lee Hope

General Board Member

Mary Lee brings over 30 years of non-profit board service to the Art League, as well as a willingness to work with others to achieve shared goals. Her professional life in California includes working for the Lodi District Chamber of Commerce, hospital marketing, manager of a California State Assembly member’s offices and being the holder of a real estate license.

Some of her interests as a board member are facilitating special events and receptions, fundraising, and helping the organization maximize its professionalism and effectiveness as the Art League continues to grow.

In addition to being a board member of the Art League, Mary Lee currently serves on the Auburn

Symphony Board of Directors and is an active member of the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce and Rotary.

Mary Lee has been immersed in music and the Arts for many years, teaching piano and being a part of music and artist communities. Her own artist statement, written in 2004, sums up her passion for the beauty that art and music bring to our lives.

“Art and Music are the best of us…they bring joy and peace to our souls in a driven world, taking us to places of remembered passions and thoughtful reflection.”

Judy Schmidt

Advisory Board Member

My professional background includes over 35 years of management experience in private and not-for-profit sectors, as well as over 25 years of teaching and facilitating various groups, ranging from top management to elementary school students.

Most recently, I worked with Sierra College and Ohlone College, where I was Dean of Workforce Development. Before that, my experience included 10 years as a training manager and consultant for several Silicon Valley organizations. Before moving to California in 1984, I was Vice President of Educational Services for the Midwest Industrial Management Association in Chicago, an organization with a membership of over 1,000 manufacturing firms.

My education includes a B.A. from Knox College and a M.S. and a Ph.D. in Administration, Higher and Continuing Education from the University of Illinois.

As a Board member for the Art League of Lincoln, I hope to use my skills to assist the League in achieving its goals through planning, facilitation, community outreach and building partnerships.

Janet Phinick

Advisory Board Member & Fundraising Chair

Janet Phinick is an advisory board member and also the Chair of the Art League of Lincoln Fundraising Team. Janet brings thirty years of technical writing experience and 12 years of experience working as a board member with non-profits. She retired from the risk management/insurance industry after working 30 years, including 20 years of operating her own consulting firm with clients from national corporations and large public agencies. Janet is also the grant writer for the Art League of Lincoln (ALL) and is the lead on the Prop-28, Arts and Music in Schools Act (AMS) project with local schools. She is a ceramic artist and musician.
