Karen Fulk

This is my fifty eighth year of making art out in the world, after graduating from the University of California at Davis in 1965.  I’ve shown my various media creations mostly in the Sacramento Regional area, mainly via competitions and shows for all these years.  I’ve belonged only to one gallery officially, that being the Michael Himovitz Gallery in 1990.

From 1965 til about 1990 I concentrated only on Drawing and Oil Painting, winning many awards and being represented in many group and solo shows. In 2001 I decided to start working in clay again.  I’ve loved clay since the third grade  and I found I could use my drawing and painting skills to glaze and paint my sculptures, bringing all my art endeavors full circle.

My favorite awards are the Spirit of California award at the California State Fair in 1992 and being chosen to represent the era of the 1970s with my Psychedelic Leather Pants at a show called FAR OUT!  Bay Area Design, 1967-1973 at the SFMOMA.
