Entry Deadline March 30, 2025

Exhibit dates February 27 -April 3, 2025

The portrait has a rich history in the story of photography.  From the candid to the formal, the presence of a human being in a photograph brings a certain weight to the viewing experience.  The ability of the camera to capture the intensity and range of the human experience and convey the feelings of joy, pain and a range of emotions in between is something that is unique to photography.  A portrait can confront as you lock eyes with the subject or it can draw you into their world as the subject is self-absorbed.  This call for submissions is looking for photographic portraits which includes formal portraiture, environmental/descriptive portraits and candid portraits

Our Juror for this show is Eric Baral.  He is a California based photographer who graduated from San Jose State University with his MFA with an emphasis in Photography in 2010.

Eric’s photography ranges from beautiful landscapes of the California Coast to the less technically driven cell phone photographs that are examining the strange, funny and mundane aspects of life that he sees around him.  The world we live in is complex, full of beauty, life, hardship and ultimately death.  Eric uses photography as a tool to try and make sense of the world he lives in.
