Viola Dean

I am a self-taught professional watercolor artist, live event painter, face painter, and certified Zentangle teacher. On a more personal level, I also do a lot of illustrated journaling, using art to document my life. I always loved art, but started becoming really serious about developing my craft professionally in the last decade. I feel inspired by nature and Art Nouveau, and love painting from a reference. My primary job is in special education, and I have experience teaching art to both adults and children. Being a face painter allows me to connect with children via art as well. I am currently working on my certificate to become a nature journaling educator, and I am excited to add these skills to my repertoire. My best advice to new artists would be to persevere through challenges – 99% of art making is not based on talent, but skill, practice, and experience. Keep creating and never give up 🙂
