Lori Paskey

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:   I capture images with my camera, and then challenge myself to recreate those images using soft pastels, charcoal, pencil, or oil paint.  I have a love affair with each new medium I try, and find it difficult to box myself into one category, as there are so many colors, textures, and patterns to explore.  I currently enjoy working in mixed media, using combinations of cold wax, oil, pastels, papers, and mark-making tools, pushing them to see what happens.  I’ve incorporated ash, soil, and sand into some of the pieces.  Nature is an ever-present influence in my life.  I start each day with hot coffee in hand and ideas afloat in my head.

BIO:  Lori Paskey has been a resident of Meadow Vista for 28 years where she has a studio that provides her with a calm, peaceful environment.  She started painting and drawing later in life, after retiring from education where she worked as an interpreter.

In 2014, Lori earned first place in pastels from the Art in the Redwoods Show in Gualala, California.  In 2021, she earned a first place award from Rocklin Fine Arts for her oil painting.  She exhibits her art at the High Hand Art Gallery in Loomis, California, and at the Art League of Lincoln in Lincoln, California, where she is also a key volunteer, working to keep the gallery running smoothly.  Lori has illustrated two chiildren’s books, the second of which, “My Favorite Season is Spring,” was recently published; she is working on a third book.
