ARTIST’S STATEMENT:   As a fine art photographer, I look for beauty in unexpected places, such as dried leaves, wilted flowers and found objects.  I hope to show the viewer that these humble, iconic objects are worthy of their interest.  Along with looking in unexpected places and for unusual things, I also enjoy focusing on the fresh flower and rediscovering the remarkable beauty of flowers growing in the wild and in the backyard garden.  I once read a quote that stated: "Take time to find beauty in the world around you."  I try to take this to heart every day and seek out the beauty that surrounds us all.  I love to share the treasures I find with others, who may be too busy to see these themselves.

BIO:  Terry graduated from San Diego State University with a BA and MA in art, and later earned her teaching credential at San Jose State University.  After raising two children, she taught art in the Bay Area at Homestead High School in Cupertino for 20 years, and earned a Teacher of the Year award.  Much to the delight of her students, she reinstated the Photography program at Homestead and opened a new darkroom, after that class had been dormant for many years.  Opening the students’ eyes to the wonderful world of photography and working with them in the darkroom was the highlight of her career.  Terry recently retired from teaching, giving her more time to focus on photography.  She has begun entering art shows and exhibitions with some success.  She continues to develop her unique perspective in capturing the beauty of the world in unexpected places.
