Show Description:

The Art League of Lincoln is rekindling the FEATS OF CLAY Show and Competition in West Placer County, CA.  The show legacy celebrates the rich history in clay competitions and was formerly held at Gladding McBean Clay Manufacturing Company in Lincoln, CA.  For 2021, this year's Show and Competition will be a scaled-back MINI Version of previous years in the form of a 'Small-Feats of Clay' bridging us to a larger venue in years to come.  In prior years, our shows have had entries from all over the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico and Asia, and we hope to return to that soon, as we are already planning the 2022 show for March/April.

We are hosting TWO separate shows, one INPERSON Show, which will be showcased live at the 580 Sixth St. Lincoln California art gallery location.  The second show is an ONLINE Only option.  Both will be showing from May 1 to June 26, 2021.  We are excited about and fortunate to have an outstanding regional clay artist/juror selecting the pieces for our shows, Gary Dinnen.

JUROR: We are honored to have Gary Dinnen participate as the juror in the 2021 “Small Feats of Clay “ show.  Gary grew up in Bell, California near the Watts region of Los Angeles. It was there he was introduced to art by his famous neighbor, Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, and Rat Fink, “Big Daddy's” hot rod driving monster. When he moved to Northern California, he was instantly grafted onto the art scene because of an anti-Disney upbringing. For the past 30  years, he has focused mainly on ceramics. And by using colorful slips and glazes he can still satisfy his painterly instincts and convey the joy he has for life. He simply finds ceramics fun and hopes it shows up in the work.
